Third and Fourth Days

The third day of the event was occupied by lectures, thus we prepared something special for its follow up!

After the International Food Fair on the opening day of the Laurea International Week 2015 and the sightseeing and dinner on second day, it is time for us to wow all the guests with much awaited social and recreational event- Trip to Nuuksio (Camping in Valklampi Lake house). This trip to Nuuksio was the perfect platform for our organizing team to provide the guests with the opportunity to experience the nature in Finland after their busy schedule of lectures. As for the short introduction to Valklampi Lake House, it was established in 1957 and is located within the Nuuksio national park. The social event included Needle felting workshop, Karjalanpiirakka workshop, playing the traditional Finnish game Mölkky along with the grilling. The guests were also given the option to swim in a nearby lake or enjoy themselves in the sauna.

In order to welcome the guests and prepare for the workshops some of the team members along with the teachers went to the lake house in the afternoon. All the guests on the other hand were busy with the morning lectures which were followed by the afternoon Otaniemi campus tour and Messikahvit in Otaniemi. Theresa and Kostas were responsible for guiding the guests to the lake house for the event which was scheduled to start at 16:30. We welcomed our guests with Sima which is a traditional Finnish drink connected with the Vappu festival (1st of May).

After the welcoming drinks all the guests were interested to go around the Lake house; some of the guests went for sauna, some for swimming, some started the Felting workshops, others took part in the Karjalanpiirakka workshop and we also started grilling the sausages and vegetables. All the guests were engaged in different activities and at the same time busy socializing with each other. It was indeed a pleasant scenario for us, the organizing team. The biggest plus point was the lovely weather and all the guests were enjoying the outdoor activities.
The view seems captivating...

Let's have some fun

After the workshops and grilling we organized the traditional Finnish game Mölkky, with the majority of the guests joining in. Nelli assisted us with the set up, as some of the participants got pretty competitive.

After almost four hours of workshops, sauna, swimming, grilling, Mölkky and socializing the day ended bidding farewell to our guests. We must thank our social event organizing team members  for such a wonderful camping trip and we are mostly thankful to our teachers Kaija Meriläinen and Marjaana Salomaa for guiding and assisting us during the whole day.
Although it was a short event we hope all of our guests had a wonderful and memorable time with us. It was indeed a pleasure to host you all.
